New Sermon Series - Family Matters Series

So the kids are back in school. Sports activities, homework, and busy days with late nights ramp up. Along with that various tensions can also ramp up - whether it be a lack of patience as parents, or lack of respect as kids. Itʼs a time when we can lose sight of what we should strive for in a family as we tend to just survive another week.

Amazing Love is kicking off a new series called Family Matters and youʼre invited. Itʼs an opportunity to consider principles that help families do more than survive, but thrive. God has given directives that benefit all in families. Theyʼre directives that give equal importance to all those in the family, albeit with different roles. Weʼll discover Godʼs ideal for our families.

Weʼll also focus on the fact that there is no perfect family. Itʼs interesting that even when you search for a perfect family in the Bible you find none. You consider King David who was the man after Godʼs own heart. He was such a lax father that his son, Absalom, killed other family members and started a civil war to drive his dad from the throne.

Now perhaps youʼre family isnʼt to the point of all out war to this extent, but you realize things arenʼt perfect. If so there will be also tremendous comfort found in this series. We will focus on Jesus. How Jesus came into the world not to condemn families for being imperfect, but to save all of us in imperfect families. He humbled himself to live under a mom. The King of Kings submitted to the will his parents. He loved his brothers. Even though Scripture says they didnʼt believe he was the Messiah. Can you imagine that tension? One brother claims to be the Savior, and the others are like, “yeah right - my brother?” He lived perfectly for the imperfect. And he died on the cross for our forgiveness.

Itʼs with the knowledge of forgiveness that we can look at Godʼs directives with nothing to fear. Heʼs already made us right with him. We can rather consider what God says to be good, and find for ourselves the good God intends. So we invite you! Help your family to thrive this September and come visit Amazing Love. God bless!
