Come and Eat

The Chicago area is filled with phenomenal restaurants. So I love to ask people what restaurant is on the top of their list. A TV show that documents peopleʼs favorite choices is “Chicagoʼs Best.” Ambrosinoʼs here in Frankfort was featured on the show for their meatball sandwich - congrats!

And if you have a great meal you can experience what I like to call food euphoria. Where the stars align and everything is right in the world. But can you imagine going to all these restaurants without ever having to pay? How fun would that be!

God actually invites us to do this. Hear these words, “You who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Listen to me, and eat what is good and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.” (Isaiah 55:1,2) The richest of fare God offers all without bill. Though heʼs not talking about food euphoria but soul satisfaction.

I believe there is a hunger we have no restaurant can fill. Itʼs a soulʼs hunger. And that hunger the church can satisfy as it brings the heavenly fare of God. Whatʼs on the menu here at church, what satiates this appetite like none other?

Faithful love. The love of God who keeps his promises and doesnʼt fail. This love that is defined by action for us. Compassion. Better than a motherʼs embrace is the tenderness of God. He is able to bring peace in pain, and strength in the most difficult moments. Forgiveness. When we sin and turn to him for forgiveness, itʼs as if it never happened. These are whatʼs able to satisfy the soul, these were all made possible through the cross of Jesus Christ.

So... come and eat! Itʼs that good. Amazing Love is in the midst of a new Lenten sermon series called, “The Sympathizing Savior.” We worship at 9:30AM. Weʼre also in the midst of a construction project working with the Aspen Group here in Frankfort. Weʼre located right by the Frankfort Library on Pfeiffer Rd.
